Alright, I know... the Monday after we "Spring-Forward" kind of sucks. I don't know if
the great debate each year whether to bag it or keep it will ever end. Daylight Saving Time (DST) has been a hot topic of debate for many years. While some people argue that the time change disrupts their daily routines, leading to sleep deprivation and other negative consequences, the truth is that there are several positive aspects of DST. I love to stay on the "bright" side things so here are a few things to like about Daylight Saving! My VERY favorite thing about Daylight Saving is that it is the first indication that Spring and Summer are sneaking up on us! Living in Colorado and it's 4-Seasons, I do appreciate each of them, but I must admit the warmer sunnier months make it to the top of the list. I end with more of the reasons I "like" Daylight Saving, but here are some others to consider:
One of the biggest benefits of Daylight-Saving Time is that it can help people save energy. By shifting one hour of daylight to the evening, people have more time to take advantage of natural light, reducing their need for artificial lighting. This can result in significant energy savings, especially in the summer months when air conditioning is used more often.
DST also promotes healthy habits. During the summer, people tend to stay up later, leading to less sleep and less time for physical activity. By pushing the clocks forward, DST can encourage people to get to bed earlier and get more physical activity during the day.
Daylight Saving Time can have a positive impact on the economy. By extending the daylight hours, people have more time to shop, dine, and take part in other activities. This can lead to increased sales in retail stores and restaurants, boosting the local economy. All in all, Daylight Saving Time can be beneficial if used properly.
Personally, I do like waking up to sunlight vs darkness. Productivity-wise, I have a tendency to work until sunset, so it is helpful for me to have the visual que to remind me know it's time to shift from work-mode to personal time. Lastly, being kind of a night owl, I'm certainly not going to bed when it is still light out so there would be no chance of me ever going to bed early over the summer without Daylight Saving.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject! Send me a note!
All my love,
Brenda
